About Plain Game

Plain Game is a small, independent daily number guessing game. It is built for people who like trivia but prefer good estimates to memorised facts: you don't need to know the exact population of a country, only to get close.

Why a Plane

A score is easier to feel when you can see it. In Plain Game every point is altitude, so a good answer sends a pixel-art plane up from the airport, through the clouds and past the airliners. Bad rounds still lift you a little, and a perfect flight ends at the edge of space.

How the Game Is Made

Questions are generated from open datasets rather than written by hand, so there are thousands of possible rounds. The daily puzzle uses the date as a seed, which means everyone gets the same seven questions without any account or server. The artwork, scoring and code are original to this site. You can read exactly where the numbers come from on the data sources page.

Not Affiliated with Plain

Plain Game on plaingame.net is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Plain, also known as playplain, or its makers. Any similarity lies in the general idea of scoring guesses by how close they are, a format that quiz and estimation games have used for a long time.

Your Data

There are no accounts. Your daily results and streak are kept in your browser's local storage and never leave your device. Clearing your browser data resets them.
